A high aim in the world of competition
Manasa, studying in Standard VII at the Zilla Parishad High School, Kanithi, is a topper in her class and has a great passion for the English language. She does not feel conscious about making mistakes and continues her efforts to speak in English. Priyadarshini, her Computers teacher praises her interest in learning English and ardent attempt to speak fluently. Manasa's father has hired a small corner shop near a hotel where he sells bidas or paan (beetle leaves). Her mother is a homemaker and manages the house with the little money that is given to her every day.
Ramana Murthy, Manasa's school in-charge says, "Since most of the children come from below poverty line category, they deserve the Akshaya Patra meal. Our school has a total of 300 beneficiaries of the mid-day meal. The variety and quality served by Akshaya Patra cannot be afforded at their homes and hence mid-day meal is like an incentive towards their education."
Manasa aims to be an English teacher. She wants to teach English to all Government school kids with a quality equivalent to that of any private school. Manasa loves to eat Akshaya Patra food since such variety of food is hardly cooked in her house. Her teacher Priyadarshini says, "Manasa is a brilliant student and is very attentive in class. We feel very motivated to teach such students and to encourage them in achieving their dreams. Akshaya Patra helps children to get a nutritious meal and thus children are able to concentrate better in class. Thanks to Akshaya Patra for feeding all the needy children and we admire their dedication towards the cause."
