Students compose song thanking Akshaya Patra
Badi Pilustondi was a week-long programme organised by the Andhra Pradesh State Government, aimed to spread awareness amongst children and parents about the importance of education, and motivate parents to enrol their children in schools again.
The campaign included programs aimed to ensure hundred per cent enrolment of eligible students in school without any dropouts and the assurance of the implementation of the Child Labor Prohibition and Regulation Act.
In Visakhapatnam, several Government schools participated in the program along with their teaching staff and local dignitaries. During this week they visited homes in the locality and spread awareness among children and their parents on how education can be their first step to a bright future.
The end of this session saw a celebration between the participating schools, where all the teachers, dignitaries, children and their parents were served food provided by The Akshaya Patra Foundation under their mid-day meal programme. The recipients expressed their appreciation for the high levels of hygiene and quality maintained in the Akshaya Patra mid-day meals in terms of nutrition and taste.
As part of a cultural activity, the students of the Gajuwaka High School performed a song based on Akshaya Patra. They appreciated Akshaya Patra's work, and conveyed their gratitude to the Foundation for serving them tasty, healthy food on every school day. They appreciated the organisation for helping them attend school and focus on their education, and also rid them of their fear of hunger. Through the song they also showed their love for the tasty weekly menu items which brings them eagerly back to school every day.
