Akshaya Patra Distributes Study Materials to Over 1150 Students

Akshaya Patra in association with the Vasudha Foundation went an extra mile in promoting education for all. On the 4th of August, the centralized kitchen in Visakhapatnam distributed free books to about 1150 children in the Gajuwaka Mandal area of Visakhapatnam district. The team visited 4 Government High schools in Akkireddy Palem, Mindi, Kanthi and Yarada and distributed a kit consisting of 3 notebooks, 1 pen and a pack of biscuits to students from class 6 to class 10, much to the delight of the children.

Second Mid-day Meals National Review Begins

As the Second Mid-Day Meals National Review begins, the committee in Andhra Pradesh paid a visit to Visakhapatnam and East Godavari districts on August 27th 28th and 30th. The team scrutinized and verified several aspects of the Kitchen including Rice utilization report, Government subsidy receivables, menu etc. They also tasted the food being delivered to the schools and expressed their satisfaction over the quality as well as the taste.

The list of officials present included Mr. Jaya Prasad, Director HRD Delhi, Ms. Arati Sregi and Ms. Krishna Veni from UNICEF, Mr. Venkat, Supreme Court Commissioner, Mr. Pullaiah, Asst director, Mid Day Meal Scheme, Andhra Pradesh, Mr. Krishna Vinayak, Reg. Joint Director, Mid Day Meal Scheme, Mr. Suryanarayana, DEO- Visakhapatnam, Mr. Lingeswara Reddy, Dy. DEO-Visakhapatnam.
